2 postal carriers held up on job

2 postal carriers held up on job | detnews.com | The Detroit News: "Detroit -- Letter carriers are on alert after two recent incidents involving gunmen who demanded the postal workers turn over their satchels.

The most recent case occurred Dec. 31 in broad daylight on Detroit's west side, as a carrier was delivering mail to houses in the 5800 block of Vancourt. Just before noon, a man approached the carrier, whipped out a pistol, snatched the mail bag and escaped in a white sedan.

In the other incident, a teenager on a bicycle rode up to a carrier about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 23 near Bradford and Minden on the east side. The bicyclist pulled out two handguns and demanded that the carrier turn over his satchel. The carrier refused, and the would-be robber pedaled away."
