Postal Employee Weighs In On USPS Fiscal Woes

Postal Employee Weighs In On USPS Fiscal Woes: "He said the public's perception of the Postal Service and the union is sometimes negative, but the public must understand management makes all of the decisions in closing post offices and firing people; not the employees.

Shuptrine said window clerks at local post office stations take a beating every day from customers. When lines are out the door with only one clerk working at the Azalea Station, it is not the fault of the clerk, who is merely a subordinate, he said. Management has to make that call to add another clerk, he added.

Shuptrine wants the public to be more informed about the Postal Service.

It is the only mail delivery service that delivers mail to every home in the United States and in rural areas. Mail carriers also deliver Fedex and UPS packages"
